Peanut Barley Candy is an old school snack which is not that common nowadays. The last time when I talked about this snack was back in 2106 at the video of Tripvid and Trevor James visited Penang.
There is a stall that selling the old-time snack at Lebuh Keng Kwee. The uncle that selling this snack was here 18 years ago.
The peanut barley candy is made of some crushed peanuts, sugar and some vegetable oil. The candy itself is softly crunchy and slight sweetness.
A lot of younger generation kids do not know the original name of this snack. Peanut Barley Candy is also commonly known as “Gong Theng” in Hokkien. The candy is crunchy and sweet on the inside and wrapped with a thin layer of soft and savory poh piah skin.
The Peanut Barley Candy with Poh Piah Skin- RM1.00 is selling at Lebuh Keng Kwee. The taste of this snack with sweetness, savory, crunchy and soft in a bite.
Overall, the Peanut Barley Candy with Pok Piah here is good and the price is reasonable. The only drawback is due to the uncle is old age and there is no younger generation to take over this stall, uncle might absence sometime.
