Delicious Koay Teow Thng @ Sin Hoe Peng Cafe, Georgetown

Lion is the King of all animals, there is a saying that goes “By the power of the Lion”. It means that lion will always have the most ascendancy and is divine. It will be an honour if you could get Lion to cook for you. I have actually get the honour to try out the food cooked by Lion, so have you got the opportunity?

This Lion not only knows how to cook, in fact the food prepared is excellent. He owns a shop at King Street (Lebuh King) and the name of the shop is “Sin Hoe Peng”.

All right, now I would reveal the true identity of Lion. The Lion that I mentioned is actually known as “Ah Sai” (means Lion in Hokkien). He is the owner of the Koay Teow Thng stall at Sin Hoe Peng Coffee Shop, located at King Street, Georgetown. Don’t worry, this Lion will not bite. He is very kind and he has been cooking Koay Teow Thng for more than 20 years.

The movement of Ah Sai is very fast like a real lion as out of the 20 over shots that I have captured, only 2 pictures that came out as presentable.

Don’t believe me? Check out the captured movement below.

One thing that attracts me to this stall is the freshness of the ingredients used to cook the Koay Teow Thng. Besides, the food is instantly cooked as per order.

The koay teow (flat noodle) was cooked with minced meat, pork livers, fish balls and meat balls. The pork liver was not over-cooked and you could feel the softness and warmth of it. The soup was very full of flavour, if there is a top 10 rating of the greatest koay teow thng in Penang, this would be one of them.

Ah Sai is not only good in preparing Koay Teow Thng but also the bee hoon (rice noodle) soup which was as delicious as well.

If you are not into soupy style, you can opt for the dried koay teow. The ingredients were saperated in a bowl of soup while the dried koay teow was placed in another bowl. The koay teow could be substituted or mixed with either maggi noodle (instant noodle) or bee hoon.

The price of the instant cooked koay teow soup is ranged from RM3, RM3.50 to RM4.20.

Overall the price of the food is affordable and the taste is good. It can be a considerable place for lunch.
