It’s another year end filled with festive seasons with Christmas and New Year are only less than a week apart. During this period, all families, friends and loved ones will sit together and celebrate this joyful season. Eastin Hotel has also come out with an array of mouth-watering buffet dishes for guests to savour and usher the coming festive season.
The decoration of the hotel has also filled with artificial snow flakes and Christmas tree. Reindeers and snowman also appear at every corner of the hotel.
A highlight of the dishes offered at the buffet spread. The display of the dishes has been carefully arranged with vivid Christmas decoration.
Chicago Turkey Mixed Salad, the turkey meat was cooked and cut into slices and sprinkled with some mandarin orange juice and slight seasoning. It was topped with some greens and berries. The tenderness of the meat was soft and smooth. It is my favourite.
Walnut Apple Salad, the green apple was cut into slices, then stacked up and filled with salad dressing and chopped walnut in between. The ending was also topped with salad dressing and some capsicum slices. The apple was very appetizing and refreshing. However, instead of salad dressing I would prefer it to be balsamic vinegar dressing for a more refreshing taste, and together with a touch of black pepper and chopped walnuts.
Australian Potato Salad, the potato was cut into cubes and mixed with salad, some spring onions, greens and topped with bit root. The taste of the potato salad was like another usual potato salad and nothing much to shout about this dish.
Smoked Salmon, the slices of smoked salmon were rolled and served. The taste of the salmon was very fresh. It is best to be taken with wasabi .
Fresh Mushroom Cream Soup, the mushroom soup was prepared using several types of fresh mushroom. The soup was quite thick, creamy and not diluted.
Poached Seabass with Saffron Sauce, the sauce was quite appetizing. It tasted like it was added with some lemon juice. The slice of poached seabass was placed on top of asparagus and topped with baby carrot. The taste of the seabass was very fresh.
Spanish Butter Rice with Nut, the rice was fried with butter, onion, capsicum, green peas and some nuts. The taste was very rich and delicious. However, to me a few mouthfuls of this rice is sufficient, if too much it will be too rich and overwhelming.
Chicken Roulade with Pomegranate Sauce, the chicken was nicely baked and was cut into slices. The crispiness of the skin gives the extra points to this dish. The pomegranate sauce tasted slightly sour. However, it was very unique and delightful. These two items really made a perfect match.
Authentic Roasted Turkey with Classic Ingredients and Condiments, the look of the roasted turkey is very mouth-watering. It was perfectly roasted until the meat was tender and juicy while the skin was crispy. The whole turkey looked very classic just like any Christmas feast in western countries, partly also due to its classic ingredients and condiments that accompanied this turkey.
The homemade muffin were used to accompany the roasted turkey meat. They matched perfectly.
The desserts of the night include:
- Ginger Bread House
- Christmas Fruits Cake with Icing
- House Christmas Mousse, Christmas Log
- Ginger Bread Fantasy and Cherry Truffle
