Surrounded by decade-old trees, Botanica Mansion is one of the latest mansions in Penang that has been restored to it previous glory. This mansion has existed since 1881 and had remained untouched until the recent took over by Botanica CT who had performed major restoration on the mansion. For those who has never been to this place might think that this is a private club house. But in actual fact, this mansion is open to public for dining or even accommodation.
Botanica Mansion opens its doors on 1 November, 2015. The facilities which are available in the mansion are a gymnasium and a swimming pool. These are exclusive to the members of the club. Membership fees to the club are payable on a monthly, half-yearly and yearly basis.
The surrounding of the building has also been beautifully landscaped especially the entrance and thus making this place like an English mansion with a big and beautiful garden.
The main entrance of the mansion will lead you to the restaurant.
Along the stairway to the upper levels, you will find some old pictures of the mansion before the recent restoration.
The second floor is an outdoor area for guests to chill and relax.
The 1st floor is a living room with heritage furnishings and also a mural art by Ernest Zacharevic.
For those who prefer dinning outdoor, there is a private area where you can dine with a view of the nature.
There are also a few private dining rooms for those looking for some privacy.
They serve Lunch, Tea and Dinner at Botanica Mansion. However, I personally love the Traditional Afternoon Tea here. There is nothing too special about the food here but the ambience and also the portion make this set value for money.
Traditional Afternoon Tea
Serving time (3pm – 5pm). Starting time 2:30pm
RM30.90 per pax; RM52.90 for 2 pax
Mini Chicken Pie
Smoked Salmon Sandwich
Chocolate Chips Scone
Tart of the day
Cake of the day

Coffee or Choice of Tea ( English Breakfast, Earl Grey, Camomile, Peppermint or Green Tea)
All the pastries and breads that served for the afternoon tea set are made in house from “Our Bakery”, which is the same company as Botanica CT.
Among all the delicious pastries, I love the chocolate chip scone and mini chicken pie. The usual scone that we had outside are usually stuffed with raisins but this chocolate chip version was stuffed with chocolate chips and tasted unique and appetising.
The afternoon tea set comes with a choice of coffee or tea. For those that prefer a better option of coffee such as cappuccino or latte, you can upgrade it at a small cost.
The coffee here is not too strong but is smooth. I personally prefer smooth type of coffee than the strong type.
For those looking for accommodation close to nature, this will be a great option. There are 4 unique rooms available at Botanica Mansion. For more information of the room rates, you can contact 012 4210933 (Patricia Chan).

Overall, this place is very nice and quiet. For those who like to escape from the city, this will be the best option. The afternoon tea set is just regular but good enough for you to enjoy in a quiet ambience and at an affordable price.
