The Top View Restaurant used to be 59Sixty Restaurant. This restaurant is the highest altitude restaurant in Penang as it is located at level 59 of Komtar.
The last time when I was at the top of Penang was back in 2015 before Christmas. I was invited to review the Christmas Buffet here. Fast forward to this day, I am back at the top of Penang but this time it is known as Top View to review their Afternoon Tea set.
The afternoon tea set includes the items below (RM38 per pax):
- Medley of finger sandwiches
- Salmon Roll
- Homemade scones and savoury
- Curry Puff
- Walnut Cake
- Chocolate Coated Puff
- Assortments of desserts
- Selection of fresh tea or coffee
The cake, puff and macaron were sweet and rich in flavor.
Churros were served as part of the afternoon tea set. This is something different compared to others. The churros came with caramel dipping sauce and it tasted sweet and filling. This is dedicated to churros-lovers.
The homemade scones were served with fresh cream and strawberry jam. The display was outstanding as the scone was placed inside a glass like a terrarium. Taste-wise it was just acceptable. It would be better if the scones were heated up and served with real homemade jam instead of store-bought strawberry-flavoured jam.
The unique way of serving scone in a terrarium-like display.
The sandwiches and salmon roll is dedicated to someone like myself who do not prefer sweet desserts. They tasted average and nothing much to shout about.
Fortunately, the tea was thick and fragrant as they used Dilmah tea.
Coffee lovers can also opt for brewed coffee in replacement of tea.
The view and the ambiance at the Top of Penang is what I enjoyed the most. With just RM38 per pax, you get to spend the afternoon in style at the Top of Penang with a set of English afternoon tea.
