Tasty Cheng Th’ng & Tomyam @ Village Cafe, Weld Quay

When talking about good fish head bee hoon or porridge, usually we will think of “Kuai Sua” (过山) Siong Ho Fish Head Bee Hoon with Cheng Th’ng and Tomyam which is located at Bayan Lepas. However, if you are staying in town area, it will be tough for you to head to Bayan Lepas. Now, for the residents in town area you will never miss it as they have also extended their business to town area.

Some of you must be curious on why the title of this post is called “Village Cafe” but the stall is known as “Siong Ho”. Actually Village Cafe is the name of the coffee shop while the stall is owned by Mr. Teh (Ah Ho), therefore the stall is known as “Siong Ho”. At this moment there is no signboard yet as they are only in operation for less than a month. The actual location of this place is located at Pengkalan Weld (Weld Quay), a few steps’ walk from Yeoh’s Jetty.

Mr. Teh has 20 years of experience in cooking fresh seafood noodle and porridge. The seafood that he chooses must always be fresh, if not he will reject them all. Another best part is that the soup they cooked does not contained with MSG, which I agreed as I didn’t feel thirsty after drinking the soup. Normally, you will feel thirsty if the soup contains too much MSG.

All the ingredients used for the Bee Hoon, Noodle or Porridge from this stall are cooked based on customized taste of customers. You can choose what ingredients to have in your bowl.

Thick Bee Hoon with Fried Fish Fillets (RM5) per bowl, this is considered to be average in price in the market. Taste wise, it is unbeatable.

Tomyam Noodle with Fish Balls, Meat Balls and Dried Bean Curd costs RM5 per bowl. The tomyam is considered spicy to me although to some people it might be just a mild taste. The chili taste is very strong and you can taste the aroma of kaffir lime leaves. It is definitely a thumbs-up option for people who love excitement.

the fish fillet noodle soup must be yummy , i used to go to the one in bayan lepas famous for fish head noodle soup too, but always ended up with only bones , hardly any fish and cost the same , me and my hubby quite annoyed with that actually , not only ripped off but left us with hunger still :(, must try this oneloh.

  4. hi, Steven,

I have tried the Village coffee shop Tom Yum Noodle yesterday. The taste is good but the environment is hot during lunch. Limited parking. I think it is better to visit this place during dinner time.

btw, the price is not cheap either.
