Javrie’s Restaurante & Pizzeria, Gurney Paragon – The Unique Ramen Burger

Whenever I mentioned I am going to have Ramen Burger, I would get surprise expressions. Either they thought I was too hungry and craving for food which made me order both ramen and burger at the same time, or they thought that I had a language problem. If I had to rephrase the sentence again, I would still say that I am going to have Ramen Burger. So far, there is only place that you can get this unique food in Penang. The place is at Javrie’s Restaurante & Pizzeria at Gurney Paragon.

For those who had read my post before, you should know how to go to Gurney Paragon. It is not hard to locate this place. Javrie’s restaurant is located at level 5, off Kelawai Road entrance. This place serves Italian food like other Italian restaurants. However, the difference of this Italian restaurant is their food is in fusion style.

The uniqueness of this place is not on its Italian food, but Ramen Burger instead.

The restaurant has a good collection of old-time movie posters which are displayed on the wall inside the restaurant.

The special of the day is always displayed on the black board of the front entrance.

This is the Ramen Burger that I am mentioning.

The difference of Ramen Burger compared to the usual burger is the bun is replaced with ramen molded into rounded shapes. In between the ramen burger is either your selection of beef or chicken meat with different of flavors. They do not use the standard patty which are highly processed meat. Instead, the meat served in the ramen burger is usually a cut of chicken/beef with your choice of preparation. The Ramen Burger comes with Set or Ala-carte. Ramen Burger per ala-carte – RM16.50, per set – RM19.80 comes with sweet potato fries, and a drink. There are 3 types of preparation for the Ramen Burger:

  • Teriyaki
  • Satay
  • Cheese

Teriyaki Chicken Ramen Burger, the grilled chicken meat cooked with teriyaki sauce, served with some mayonnaise and slices of cucumber, lettuce and onion. The ramen burger was then topped with sprinkle of seasoning.

So far, out of the 3 selections of ramen burger, teriyaki burger is still my favorite. The sauce of teriyaki was so appetizing and it mixed so well with the ramen and seasoning.

Satay Chicken Ramen Burger, this is the same version as the Teriyaki Chicken Ramen Burger, except it was served in Satay sauce along with cucumber and onion. The flavor is a usual Malaysian authentic satay sauce and should be a favourite for all satay lovers.

For those who prefer a more rich and American taste, try out the Cheese Chicken/Beef Ramen Burger. For this flavor the ingredients are mustard, mayonnaise, tomato, onion, cucumber and lettuce.

Homemade Chicken Lasagna – RM22.88,  for traditional Italian food lovers, you must not miss out their chicken lasagne. It is always a safer option to choose compared with fusion food. The lasagne looked normal from the exterior as it looked like it was lacking of red sauce and contained only creamy white sauce which I do not prefer. Surprisingly the taste was good and it was cooked with traditional red sauce after all.

For those who love to have a cup of coffee after meal, you can try out their hot latte – RM11.88. It was nice and packed with aroma.

Overall, the food was nice and the uniqueness of the Ramen Burger has made this restaurant outstanding. The price of the food was slightly higher than average. However, with this ambiance and service, it is considered reasonable.
