Where in town can you get the taste of durian when you really crave for it even it is not in season? I am not sure about others, but for me I am a durian fan. I would go for durian if I know there are good ones. Trying out fresh durian is very common. Have you ever tried out dessert which is made from fresh durian?

One of the special places for special dessert is no other than Lucky Dessert. It is not hard to locate Lucky Dessert at all. If you know how to go to Gurney Plaza, head to lower ground level and in front of the food court you will see this Lucky Dessert stall.

Durian Wrapz – RM5.00. The first that I am going to introduce in the list which is also one of my favorites, the durian wrap. The durian flesh was blended, topped with fresh cream and wrapped in a soft and smooth egg and flour coat. The durian was from grade D13 which contained the delightful localized taste.

Mango Wrapz – RM5.00, besides the durian wrap, the mango wrap was made in the same way as well. The difference was it was stuffed with mango instead of durian filling. For those that dislike durian taste, this is another option for with a refreshing taste.

Trinity Mango Delight – RM9.00, the the soup was made of coconut milk, full cream milk and whipped cream. The base for mango was a mixture of fresh mango cubes and the mango puree. The puree was self made rather than ready-made which was more fresh and tasty. It was then topped with sago balls and also pomelo fruit slices.

Trinity Durian Delight – RM10.00, most of the ingredients of this dish are the same as Trinity Mango Delight, except it used mango cubes and mango puree. I still prefer the durian flavor, maybe I am a real durian-lover.

Banana Krisp – RM12.00, this dessert was made of 1/2 slice of banana and thin layer of chocolate cake, then rolled together and topped with black sesame and icing sugar. The taste of the banana, crispy roll and chocolate cake blended in very well. It was a very spectacular dish.

Durian Krisp – RM14.00, again instead of banana, the inner was stuffed with mashed durian as well as butter cake as base. This is specially dedicated to durian lovers. The feeling of having durian krisp was like biting soft durian together with some crunchy cookie. The combination was phenomenal.

Mango Rolls – RM6.00, the inner filling was mango slices, it was covered with a layer of glutinous rice flour and topped with decimated coconut which the whole dessert was made like a swiss-roll. The mango itself was slightly sourish but overall, it was a very appetizing dish.

Durian Rolls – RM6.00, instead of inner mango it was replaced with mashed durian. This round, I prefer mango as the sweetness and the combination of decimated coconut tasted more appetizing than the durian filling.

Nutty Ginger Lucky Ball – RM7.00. Glutinous rice ball coated with brown sugar ginger gravy. Served with mashed peanut, coconut, sesame and sugar as seasoning. The taste was very unique, just like a dried-style glutinous rice ball.

Italian Mixed Herb Jell-O – RM12.00. The ingredients of this dessert were honeydew, mango, papaya, watermelon, glass jelly, strawberry and topped with basil seeds. A very refreshing dessert.

Lime Snow Ice – RM6.90. The lime juice was frozen in ice cubes. It was then ground until fine and topped with some canned pineapple and lychee. The taste was very sourish. If you don’t want to fall asleep, this will be the best dessert for you.

Black Sesame Snow Ice – RM6.90. The black sesame was grained, blended and made into ice cubes. It was then grained finely and topped with mashed peanut, coconut, sesame and sugar. Very delightful dessert.

Lucky Chestnut – RM5.50, one of the signature desserts here was the chestnut paste. The chestnut was cooked and ground finely and made into paste. It was topped with coconut milk. The taste of the chestnut paste was similar to mixture of lotus seed and peanut. It tasted good.

Set Lunch with Pancake – RM8.90, Set Lunch with Roll – RM9.90

Overall, I love most of the desserts here. Especially those that made of durian. However, one of the drawback here is there are no main courses here, just only desserts. If the desserts can be served together with a main course as a set meal, that will be perfect.

G Hotel is one of the most stylish hotel in Penang. G Hotel emerges as an urban icon at the hustling and bustling of Gurney Drive. This hotel is specially dedicated to business class clients. One of the attractive and delicate dining spots in G Hotel is Soy and Sesame Kitchen.

Soy offers a scrumptious wide selection of tempting delicacies that are moderately priced. The menu offered here at Soy is a luscious fusion of Asian delights. From the exotic flavours of Vietnam, Hong Kong, Thailand, Taiwan, Korean, Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia. Soy Kitchen is able to cater for about 64 pax.

The corridor from Soy to Sesame Kitchen.

While Soy is somewhat casual, Sesame is the more formal of the two. The decoration is done in rich shades of mahogany brown. This place can cater for 67 pax.

There are also private rooms for VIP.

Instead of Sesame, this round the focus will be on Soy Kitchen. The dishes of the month is TAIPEI SPECIALTY CUISINE. The offer for business set lunch is RM30.

The set consisted of the following dishes.

The offer of the selection will be on any 2 dishes selected, served with either steamed rice or fried riced and soup or dessert of the day.

Soup of the day - The soup that I had on that day was white radish and carrot soup. The soup was full of seafood flavor and the fragrance was so delicate.

Chilled Braised Bean Curd & Century Egg, The bean curd was braised in soy sauce and served together with black fungus, sprinkled with sesame and garnished with coriander. The century egg accompanied with the dish was topped with caviar.

Taiwanese Stewed Rice with Minced Meat and Mushroom, the minced meat and mushrooms were finely-chopped and cooked with bean paste. It was placed on top of the rice which made the rice more fragrant and delicious.

The option of steamed rice or fried rice. Personally I prefer the rice to be fried rather than steamed.

Snake Beans in Shrimp Paste & Beef Brisket Slices, the snake bean was cut into few inches long and stir-fried with beef brisket slices and some shrimp paste. This is one of the simplest yet delicious dish. The stir-fried was done on a moderate fire, yet it managed to create pan-fried flavour. The beef brisket slices was full of flavor and were very delicious.

Steamed Snapper Fillet, the snapper fillet was steamed with high-quality soy sauce and topped with soy bean curd crumbs, coriander and cushioned with angled luffa slices. The fish really tasted fresh and the best thing about this dish was it was poured with high-quality superior soy sauce. The texture of the meat was very smooth until it sometimes slipped through your throat before you managed to take a bite on it.

JIN DOU CHICKEN, the chicken was cut into pieces and cooked with black vinegar, plum sauce, tomato sauce, honeydew melon, capsicum slices, onion slices and garnished with lettuce. This dish was delicious and appetizing. It was not spicy at all and suited for non-spicy lovers.

Crispy Snapper Fillet, the snapper fillet was battered and fried in red curry sauce, then completed with cherry tomatoes, pineapple cubes and topped with coriander. This was a crispy and sourish type of dish. It was a very different style of presentation compared to the usual steamed snapper. This dish tasted nice and unique.

Hunan Style Beef Cubes, the beef cubes were pan fried with starch, dark soy sauce, sesame oil, pepper and Chinese rice wine. The was a very peppery and starchy dish. Usually, I’m not a pepper lover. Surprisingly it tasted nice and is one of my favorite dishes.

Stewed Bean curd, the bean curd was stewed and cooked with crab roe and crab meat. It was garnished with coriander. The stewed bean curd was thick yet slightly sweet. It was the usual stewed bean curd with the taste of seafood.

Braised Moi Choi Duck Breast, the duck breast meat was braised with moi choi, added with some chili slices and cushioned with crispy puff pastry. This dish is usual and very common type of moi choi and braised duck breast meat.

Braised Baby Chinese Cabbage, the baby chinese cabbage was cooked with dried scallops, wolf berry, enoki and shitake mushroom. This is not my cup of tea, the dish was just average and not up to my expectation.

Gula Melaka Creme Brulee with Coconut Ice Cream, the brulee was made of gula melaka and served together with coconut ice cream.

This is one of the great desserts I’ve ever tried. I love the brulee which was full of gula melaka flavor. When the brulee was taken together with the coconut ice cream, it was heavenly dessert.

Overall, the food here was great. The ambiance here was the selling point. Due to that, the price was slightly on the high side. For those looking for a good atmosphere to have business luncheon or dinner, this may be your answer.

Looking for a place to grill and chill at the same time? If you are working near to the town area of Penang and you love to have a mug or two after work along with some meals to satisfy with, there is a place that will fulfill these needs.

The name of this place is called “Chicago Rib House”. The location of this place is not difficult to locate. Once you know how to go to Gurney Plaza, you will surely know how to go to Chicago Rib House. The reason is Chicago Rib House is just at the al fresco dining area of Gurney Plaza. For those who love some grills and chills, this would be the perfect choice for you.

CHEESE NACHOS – RM14.90, this is for the cheese lovers. The mixed cheese was spread across all the tortilla chips and it was baked to perfection. It was then served together with salsa sauce. The taste of the salsa was slightly spicy and sourish while the tortilla chips with cheese were rich and creamy. Both of this combination made this entire dish a masterpiece.

BUFFALO WINGS – RM19.90.

HOT BUFFALO WINGS – RM19.90

SWEET HOT BUFFALO WINGS – RM19.90

Besides the Cheese Nachos, another famous finger food at Chicago Rib House is the buffalo wings. There are 3 types of flavor available for the buffalo wings. First is the original buffalo wings. The marinated chicken wings were deep fried and coated with honey barbecue sauce. This flavor is suitable for kids and non-spicy lovers.

For those who love spiciness and excitement, you can always order hot buffalo wings or sweet hot buffalo wings. Most of the process of preparation will be the same as the original flavor of buffalo wings. The only difference is the marination sauce is spicy or hot and spicy Thai sauce. The buffalo wings were also sprinkled with black and white sesame seeds.

As for me, I still prefer the original version of buffalo wings. It could be the original flavor is more suitable to barbecued than the spicy one.

Chicago Ribs House is introducing a whole new range of pastas.

One of them is SHRIMP OLIO – RM30.90. The ingredients of this pasta consist of olio, shrimps, spices, chili flake, chopped coriander and olive oil.

This dish was full of shrimps. For seafood lovers this is a must order dish.

COUNTRY FRIED PORK – RM28.90, country fried pork is a new steak selection on the menu. This new dish is specially dedicated to pork lovers. The pork chop was fried until crispy, it was then topped with homemade creamy gravy and cheese. The side dishes consisted of mashed potato and pan-fried broccoli.

Personally, I feel that the texture of the fried pork chop was great. However, the taste of the gravy did not really blend in well with the meat. The taste of the gravy was rich, salty and creamy, but it was not appetizing. If this dish was added with a touch of lemonade with a slight soury flavour it would taste better.

CHICAGO’S PORK RIBS WITH GRILLED SALMON – RM49.90, this dish is the combination of pork ribs with grilled salmon. The ribs were marinated and grilled till slight crispy with a nice aroma, it was then covered with barbecue sauce. The grilled salmon was served fresh with a slice of lemon as a garnish. The side dishes were sweet corn and risotto.

The grills were excellent. The only drawback is the barbecue sauce of the ribs were on the sweet side. For the non-sweet lovers, this might be a challenge.

TORTILLA SALAD – RM25.90, the salad consisted of tomato, onion, roman lettuce and some chopped coriander. They were then placed in a crunchy deep fried tortilla that looked like a bowl. It was then topped with the grilled chicken slices.

The combination of all the ingredients that made up this dish was excellent. The fried tortilla was not too oily yet the salad was very appetizing. It is one of my favorites.

STRAWBERRY LEMONADE (Left) – RM7.90, one of the new beverages on the menu is the strawberry lemonade. The drink is a combination of sprite, strawberry and lemonade. The taste of this drink was a bit like cough mixture. This is not my cup of tea.

TROPICAL ORANGE FREEZE (Right) – RM8.90, the other new beverage that was served on the menu is the tropical orange freeze. The drink was an ice blended drink made of orange, pineapple and coconut milk. This drink was great, but if the coconut milk could be replaced with full cream milk, that would be even much better.

CHOCOLATE MUD PIE – RM14.90. One of the grand finale of this meal was the chocolate mud pie. The base of the pie was cookie base, topped with chocolate and vanilla ice cream, then covered with almond flakes, chocolate powder and chocolate mud.

I always feel that dessert is the most important of the entire course. The reason being is if the dessert is good, it would make up for the previous dishes. Anyway, the pie was not very sweet. It tasted both hot and cold, sweet and slight bitterness. This dessert is a must-order on my next visit.

Overall, the taste for the new dishes were good, yet there are some still have rooms for improvement. The price is slightly on the high side. The ambiance is suitable for family and friends and there are sufficient car park lots at Gurney Plaza, provided that you are there at the right time. They have free WIFI available and customers are welcomed to bring their own liquor with no corkage. The finale of the dessert, which is the chocolate mud pie is a must try item.

Nyonya food, is a near to extinction food. It was once nearly disappeared until in recent years, some of the cooks and chefs started to revive the cusine in Penang.

The one great place serving authentic Nyonya food is Perut Rumah.

If you are driving from Komtar to Gurney Drive, you will need to drive via Burma Road. At the junction of Jalan Pangkor, turn right where you will see Gleneagles Hospital on your right. Keep driving and the left turn to Kelawai Road, where you will see UOB bank on your left. Keep driving for another 100 meters and you will see a stone pounder signboard on your left. That is the right place you are looking for.

Perut Rumah has a well-maintained Nyonya style interior. It has an antique chest of drawers and a display cupboard with a proud collection of Nyonya antiques. These collections are purely antique and not replicas.

The floor tiles are those you could find from the olden days in most pre-war houses. Even the handle of the staircase is also very classical.

The ambiance is very cozy and classical. Just imagine that it is like a twilight zone that teleports a person back to the olden days in the middle of a city.

One of the owners of Perut Rumah, Giannick (or Nick) has allowed me to have an exclusive interview with him. Nick was once a hairdresser. He started operating Perut Rumah for the past 3 years. The reason of giving up his hairdressing profession is due to his passion on Nyonya food.

Nick mentioned that the chef which is his mum has the experience of Nyonya cooking for more than 30 years. This has made their food to be more authentic.

The dishes served are listed as below:

Jiu Hoo Char, this is a traditional and popular dish that we are used to its taste. It was cooked using strips of bangkwang (yambean), carrots, mushrooms and dried jiu hoo (squid). This dish was slightly dry compared to others, but the taste was also good when wrapped with lettuce together with some sambal sauce.

Pork Slices Fried Cincaluk, the pork slices were cooked together with cincaluk (Malay sauce with fermented shrimp as the base). Personally, I find this dish was a bit on the salty side yet it is still acceptable and delicious too.

Inchi Cabin Chicken is known as Encik Cabin Chicken. The reason why it is called Encik Cabin is because this dish was popularly cooked on the ship for sailors. Usually when the meal is ready, the chef will inform the sailors “Encik dalam cabin, Chicken siap” (Mister in the cabin, you meal is ready.) That is how this meal got its name. The preparation of this meal was excellent and it had a really crunchy skin and juicy meat.

Roti Babi (Real Pork), Previously this dish was tried in other places and it was substituted with chicken due to Halal request. However, over here the strips of bangkwang (yambean), carrots, mushrooms were cooked together with slices of pork and wrapped with bread which had been coated with batter and deep fried until crunchy. The best part was even though it was deep fried, the bread didn’t fully absorb the oil and hence it didn’t taste oily.

Kuih Pai Ti (Singapore Pok Pia), a mixture of bangkwang (yambean), carrots and mushrooms which was fried together with slices of pork was placed into crunchy snack cups. Each cup was topped with fried onions. The taste of the bangkwang char was similar to the roti babi except that is crunchy.

Loh Bak (Assorted Deep Fried Rolls). This is the most common traditional food around which everyone knows in Malaysia. This meat roll was made from minced meat and was wrapped in yuba (soya bean skin). The loh bak tasted hot and juicy. It was a combination of crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Very standard type of dish.

Nasi Ulam. The most difficult dish to prepare. All the “ulam” (a type of creeper) were cut into thin slices, mixed together with the pounded “Hea Bee” (dried prawns), slices of onion, slices of carrot and then fried together with rice. The proportion of the ingredients to rice is 7 to 3, which made this dish very hard to prepare. There are not many places in town that serve this dish as well. The smell of the dried prawns was very strong which I like it a lot.

Assam Prawns, the prawns were marinated with tamarind and assam and cooked with dark soy sauce. The sauce was sweet and sour and it was a very appetising dish.

Curry Tumis Stingray Fish. This tumis curry was served in claypot with a fresh sting ray which was very juicy. The aroma of the curry was very strong and they didn’t use much salt or sugar on this dish. The taste from the curry was merely generated by the spices and the garnish of the dish. Caution to the non-spicy lovers, you might need to skip this one as it is spicy and will make your tongue numb.

Otak-otak, the fish was cut into fillet and placed onto a “Kado” leaf. On top of the fish was a custard made from egg, turmeric, coconut milk and spices. It was then wrapped into a banana leaf and steamed to perfection.

Once the banana leaf is opened you can see the golden color of custard on top of the fillet. When eating together the aroma of the spices blended in very well with the fish. The texture of the fish was so soft and it is an excellent combination.

Perut Ikan, the ingredients of this dish include “ulam”, long beans, tomato, pineapple and fish belly. The taste of the dish was slightly sour and very spicy. Again, those who do not fancy spicy food, please skip this.

All the dishes shown above, except for the perut ikan were laid on the dining table as picturerd below. The price for all the dishes below are RM150 and can cater for 6 pax.

Overall the ambiance for this place is very cozy and traditional. The service here is good and the food is mostly acceptable. There are some car parks available in front of the porch. There are also a lot of car parks at the side of Kelawei Road. As for the pricing, with such environment and service, it is in the range of acceptable. This place has free WIFI too.

Seven Bistro and Restaurant is a new restaurant in Penang. It is not very hard to locate this restaurant at it is settled at Gurney Walk of Gurney Plaza, which is just next to Dome Cafe.

Coincidently, I found myself to have taken only 7 pictures for this post. This is an exact match to the restaurant’s theme “Seven”. In fact, all the side-dishes in the menu are priced at RM7 per dish for all day long.

The restaurant has a very modern and innovative look. Just like many of its neighbours, the restaurant/bistro has indoor and outdoor dining areas. For smokers you have to be seated outside whereas indoor is for non-smokers and is air-conditioned. The indoor dining area can cater for approximately 30 people whereas outdoor can cater for about 20 people.

The price for set lunch is RM11 (set dinner is RM13), inclusive of a fixed choice of main course and soft drink. At such an environment and on a Saturday afternoon, the set lunch is considered cheap. But it all depends on which set that you order.

Grilled Lamb Chop with romesco and mint sauce. This is the most valuable set of all. For those who enjoy lamb, this is a must-order. The portion was quite big as they gave 2 slices of lamb chop. The texture of the lamb is just nice not too over-cooked. Combined with the mint sauce it is a delicious combination.

Pasta with ham in Cream Sauce. The pasta was cooked in cream sauce. All the pasta dishes on the menu are in cream sauce type only and they don’t have any in Napolitan or Bolognese sauce. The taste of this pasta was very standard, with a touch of chives sprinkled on top and some herb powder on the side of the plate.

Chargrilled Chicken Breast with Hand-cut Potatoes, this is the set that is not so valuable. The portion of the breast meat was surprisingly very small, in fact it was much much smaller than the lamb chop. It just needed my 2 mouthful to finish eating the set. However, the taste of this main course was acceptable with some fried potatoes and salad served as side dishes.

Spanish Grilled Chicken. Taste-wise and portion-wise, this set is still reasonable. The Spanish-style sauce went well with the grilled chicken, alongwith some cut potatoes and salad.

The Iced Lemon Tea which was served together with the set lunch.

Overall, the taste of the food here is acceptable. However, some of the main course portion is too little. The place is very cozy and with free WIFI. There are also plentiful of parking space inside Gurney Plaza.

Talking about steamboat there are many around in Penang. However, talking about the taste and freshness of the raw ingredients, I believe no other restaurants can beat Golden Gate Steamboat.

If you are driving via Gurney Drive from Georgetown, you will soon pass by Gurney Hotel and Evergreen Hotel. Once you see Martini Pub on your left, turn left to Cantonment Road. Keep driving for another 50 meters and you will see Golden Gate Steamboat on your right.

The main entrance to Golden Gate, in fact it is written in Chinese.

The main dining area for those that come in early.

If the main dining area is full, you will find that there are more rooms further inside.

There is an aquarium tank in front of the main hall, where you will see many prawns swimming inside.

All those fresh prawns are waiting to be served to your plate freshly.

The starter, stuffed fried poh piah with Lea and Perrins Sauce.

There are even packages available for the steamboat dinner.

For 2 Person – RM20.00
For Happy Family (6 – 8 persons) – RM60.00
For Deluxe (8 – 10 persons) – RM92.00
Fish Head Steamboat – RM40.00

The following pictures are from the Deluxe package.

The usual veggie provided in most steamboat restaurants.

The highlight of Golden Gate Steamboat restaurant is on the fresh prawns which are fresh from the fish tank in the restaurant itself. The meat was sweet and fresh.

The essential ingredients for every steamboat – meat balls and bird eggs.

The homemade shrimp dumpling “水饺” were delicious as well.

Other than the fresh prawns, the fish slices is also one of the recommended dishes. The fish slices were as thin as piece of paper. Besides the fish slices, there are also fish bladder, cellophane noodles and also green spinach noodle.

There is also a plate of squids available.

Pork slices have been cut into very thick slices and they tasted similar to beef. Compare to the pork slices at E.T Steamboat, this is much better as there is no heavy pork smell.

Other than the usual dishes shown on top there is also a very unique dish that I wanted to introduce, which is stuffed mushroom with mince meat. The taste was very nice as it combines the chewiness of the mushroom and also the tenderness of the minced meat.

The preparation of steamboat is very straight forward. Place all the ingredients that you want to eat into the hot steamboat pot and wait for it to boil. After another 2 minutes, the food is ready to be served.

Overall, the raw materials are fresh, especially the prawns and it is not expensive. Of course if compared to BBQ steamboat the price may not be as attractive but it is definitely more healthy for this type of steamboat. The only drawback is the parking space here is not that enough.

After the 4th Penang Food Blogger gathering which was back in August 2009, the recent 5th Food Blogger Gathering was just held at Jurin Express, Gurney Plaza.

Jurin Express, currently this is the only one outlet in Penang which is located at the 2nd floor of Gurney Plaza’s new wing.

The surrounding of this place is very cozy with large windows panes for you to enjoy the nice view of Gurney Drive and also all walks of life outside the mall.

Very Japanese-style menu.

The gifts provided by the organizer, Jason and Gill from Gourmet Garden and also Criz from Crizfood.

I realized that nowadays most of the Japanese restaurants seem to have modern and stylish chandeliers.

The price for the set meal for each blogger was RM50. However, I find it value for money as the portion was very big and can easily feed the stomaches of two.

The drink of the day was free flow of Hot or Cold Honey Green Tea. The taste was very special with the additional touch of honey to the green tea.

There were 3 types of appetizers:

Tempura Kani

Sushi Combo

Sushi Fried Maki

Tempura Kani, this is the sushi roll with crab stick as the filling, coated with tempura skin. The taste of this dish was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. It goes well with the Japanese sweet sauce and also some mayo.

Sushi Fried Maki, for this dish the nori rolled sushi is placed in in an extra layer of vinegar rice which has been topped with mayo and ebiko. It was a very appetizing starter. Actually, after tried out the 3 starters, we already felt very full and wanted to call for the day

Sushi Combo, a set of colorful sushi rolls. This dish combines all types of sushi. I just love the taste of hand roll sushi here as the sourness of the vinegar was not too heavy and also the compression of the rice was not too over. However, the taste might be vary from person to person. Some prefers the vinegar to be stronger and also the rice should be more compressed and sticky.

As for Set Lunch, there are 4 varieties of set lunches as below. These sets are only available during festive season, they are not commodities for daily:

Set A: Ginmutsu Teriyaki (Deep fried cod fish in sweet sauce), Chicken Ban Ban (Boneless fried chicken chunks served with Japanese sauce and mayo), Ebi Tempura (Deep fried shrimps in batter), Yaki Tamago (Sweet omelette), Garlic Fried Rice and Miso Soup.

Set B: Salmon and Tuna Sashimi, Unagi (BBQ Japanese eel), Tamago Kikurage (Black fungus with chilies), Yaki Tamago (Sweet omelette), Garlic Fried Rice and Miso Soup.

The salmon and the tuna slices were very fresh, but some food blogger claimed that the salmon and tuna were not fresh as they were a bit watery.

Set C: Salmon and Tuna Sashimi, Spicy Salmon (deep fried and topped with spicy sauce), Kakiage (Deep fried shrimps, squid and vegetables in batter), Yaki Tamago (Sweet omelette), Garlic Fried Rice and Miso Soup.

Set D: Karubi Beef (Stir fried beef with onions), Nama Ika Teriyaki (Grilled cuttlefish in teriyaki sauce), Karaage (Deep fried soft shell crabs), Yaki Tamago (Sweet omelette), Garlic Fried Rice and Miso Soup.

Desserts given to us were green tea ice cream with red bean.

Gill was showing the sponsored chili sauce and requested us to give comments after trying out.

Some of the food bloggers were chit-chatting while some were busy taking photos.

Some were ready to be served while some were staring blankly at each other.

“Here, let me pass you my name card”, Amanda was showing to Cheryl Wee, while her husband and Alvin were sitting wondering.

Chan Lilian was checking on her son if he was still intact.

Cariso was showing off her goodies while Mr. A was watching her from the opposite.

Lay Min was busy shooting while Kok Ann was checking on the goodies.

Criz Lai is planing to get a Lumix semi-pro camera like Sam’s, while Criz friend, Beh was looking elsewhere. Waco Chan was reading the menu.

The two beautiful girls Eunice and SY from Food Promotion got shocked when I took their photo.

Daisy, the owner of restaurant, was my ex-colleague and she is now the lady boss of Jurin Express while I am still at nowhere. Sigh.

Say cheese…. In present:

(Not in photo – Carrie & partner, Lilian Chan & son).

Overall, the ambience here is very nice and cozy. The sushi rolls, tempura kani and most of the bento sets here are great, the green tea is very special compared to the usual plain green tea elsewhere. However, some of the dish like Set C is too localized and the dessert is just another OEM ice cream instead of an impressive capture for the ending.
